Lady Kay II

8.8 m steel workboat | 90 kW diesel | Shaft drive | Built 1965

A solid and dependable workhorse, Lady K II has been part of countless marine operations around Tauranga and beyond. Purpose-built in steel and powered by a reliable diesel shaft drive, she remains a versatile and capable vessel even decades after her original launch.

Primary uses:

  • Towing vessels to and from their moorings
  • Delivering supplies to larger ships at anchorage
  • Pushing and towing smaller barges
  • Providing a stable dive platform for commercial diving operations
  • Assisting with debris removal and shoreline clean-ups, including recovery of floating logs and submerged material
  • Lady Kay II is our Tier One Regional Oil Spill Response vessel; she is on call 24/7 for any oil spills in the Tauranga Harbour

Webster Barge

10 m × 3.5 m steel construction | Palfinger crane | Spud capability | Shallow-draft barge

Built for stability and versatility, Webster is a reliable work platform ideally suited to marine construction and support operations. Its shallow draft allows access to tight or tidal environments, while the integrated Palfinger crane provides the lifting reach needed for moving heavy materials and equipment both on and off the water.

Primary uses:

  • Marine construction and maintenance in shallow or confined waters
  • Lifting and positioning materials using the Palfinger crane
  • Supporting barge-based projects requiring stable working space
  • Transporting supplies and equipment between shore and site
  • Serving as a flexible platform for specialist tasks such as diving, drilling, and pile work

Quest Barge

12 m steel workboat | 141 kW diesel | Stern drive | Shallow draft | Built 1997

Quest is the main workhorse of the Bay Marine Works fleet – a highly manoeuvrable, sea-worthy barge purpose-built for demanding marine construction and diving operations. Its shallow draft allows it to access tight or shallow areas with ease, while the powerful diesel drive and large deck area provide an excellent working platform for a wide range of on-water tasks.

Primary uses:

  • Structural repairs, maintenance, and construction projects
  • Commercial diving platform for extended-duration dives
  • Operations in confined or shallow environments
  • Transporting and manoeuvring heavy equipment and materials
  • Supporting compressor and dive-support systems on deck

Mary S workboat

4.3 m aluminium workboat (4 mm) | 60 hp Yamaha outboard | Power driven | Draft 0.25 m | Built 2011

Compact and highly manoeuvrable, Mary S is the go-to vessel for estuary and shallow-water operations. Constructed from 4 mm marine-grade aluminium and powered by a 60 hp Yamaha outboard, she’s light, responsive, and designed for tight spaces where larger craft can’t operate.

Primary uses:

  • Estuary maintenance and inspection work
  • Accessing shallow or confined waterways
  • Supporting dive and debris-removal operations
  • Transporting small loads and equipment in low-draft areas
  • Manoeuvring around moorings, structures, and obstacles

With her shallow 250 mm draft and reliable performance, Mary S provides Bay Marine Works with safe, efficient access to hard-to-reach parts of the harbour and estuaries.

Grampus

6m Aluminium Monohull Walk around console | 115HP Yamaha outboard | power driven | Built 1999

Grampus is a purpose-built work vessel designed by Southern Boats and launched in 1999. She’s a rugged 6m aluminium centre-console built for commercial operations, powered by a modern 115 hp four-stroke Yamaha outboard. With her strong build and reliable engine, Grampus delivers a fast response, making her ideal for everything from dive operations to marine support tasks.

Primary uses:

  • Dive support vessel
  • Coastal work and deliveries
  • Surveyed to 12nm

Grampus makes an excellent dive platform thanks to her low gunnels, and her outstanding sea-keeping gives her real stability and confidence in rough water.

Tumeke Tug

Steel tug | 9m long, 1.6m draft | 3T bollard pull with 400hp | capable of maneuvering barges and other vessels up to 150T | built 1995

Tumeke is one of Bay Marine Works' external partner tugs - we work closely with Tumeke and her skipper, and can recommend Tumeke for larger scale projects than our tug Lady Kay II is capable of.

Primary uses:

  • Manoeuvring barges and other large vessels in Tauranga and the Coromandel
  • Large vessel tow
  • Salvage jobs
  • Tumeke was purpose built as a 'pusher tug'
